March 8 marks International Women’s Day, which was established over a century ago in 1913. It’s a remarkable day aimed at ending discrimination against women, a movement that is near and dear to our hearts here at Kaia Earth.

The theme this year is #eachforequal, so take a moment to think about the ways you can have an individual impact on forging a gender equal world. International Women’s Day encourages people to “Celebrate women’s achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.”
Many biases are unspoken and unseen, like the wage gap, for instance. But we can’t let this stop us from taking steps in the right direction. Change doesn’t happen overnight; it’s incremental. Every day is a new opportunity to support women and further this cause.
Everyone has a voice, and every voice matters. That’s the beauty of living in a world filled with diversity. Go on freely and happily expressing yourselves and embracing new opportunities. Happy New Year! We’re well into January, but our bodies are still recovering from the holidays. From consuming lots of sweets, to guzzling eggnog, to enjoying a couple extra adult beverages, to full-on food comas, it’s not too late for post-holiday detoxing to start this new decade healthy.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, a time that’s near and dear to our hearts here at Kaia Earth. Our fearless founder beat her battle with breast cancer in 2011 , and we feel it’s our duty to warn our dedicated customers ways to lower your risk of the terrible disease that affects 1 in 8 women in the United States.

There have been many studies popping up linking chemicals we use on a daily basis with breast cancer. Natural News covered a study that found a list of potential chemicals with breast carcinogens, including: benzene and butadiene (found in vehicle exhaust, tobacco smoke, lawn equipment and charred food); flame retardants; hormone replacement therapy drugs; some nonstick cookware and stain-resistant fabrics; and chemicals used to filter drinking water.

There are many ways to reduce your risk of breast cancer, but here are some suggestions based on the study’s findings:

• Reduce the accumulation of chemicals in your home by removing shoes at the door.

This month is Plastic Free July. Citizens are encouraged to reduce plastic waste and refuse single-use plastic products.

The countdown to summer is on; the days are getting longer, lawn mowers are sounding, and the flowers are in full bloom.
