In order to find love outside of ourselves, it’s important to first look within ourselves. If we show ourselves love and compassion, love from others will find us.
This Valentine’s Day, take an introspective journey by observing your relationship with yourself. Do you practice self-care? Do you show yourself love? Are you empathetic with yourself?
Practice self-love by looking in the mirror and, rather than pointing out your flaws, find things that you appreciate about yourself. Maybe it’s the color of your eyes. Or your curves. Or the smoothness of your skin. No matter how big or small the appreciation is, be sure to make this a daily practice in order to connect with yourself.
Whether or not you’re in a relationship this Valentine’s Day, make yourself a priority. Buy yourself a pretty journal and take a few minutes every day to write down what you’re grateful for. Or perhaps write down a few compliments to yourself. It can be as simple as, “I got up and made it to work on time. I rock!” Sometimes the most mundane events like going to work are the hardest.
